Contrary to popular opinion, the quality of a bedspread should not be judged according to its filling weight (“the heavier the better”). 1000 down feathers weigh just 1 g. The higher quality the filling, the lower the weight, since it is actually the amount of trapped air that is decisive for the insulating properties of a duvet. Moreover, a high proportion of down is a guarantee for the breathability of a duvet. By contrast, the amount of feathers in a pillow considerably raises its elasticity and supportive qualities. The bed products from Billerbeck – a company with over 80 years’ experience in this field – are distinguished by a high degree of handcraft and loving care in the details. The down and feathers used in the process are of such high quality that they can be put through the washing machine at 60 °C, as well as through the tumble dryer, without any chemical pre-treatment. A comfortable and dry sleeping environment is ensured with the hydrophilic fabric refinement of the cotton fabric.
