Revolver First Pressing ‘Remix 11’ 1G/1R By The Beatles Matrix Nos / Mother / Stampers Side One: XEX 605-2 / 1 / G Side Two: XEX 606-1 / 1 / R This is the ‘Remix 11’ pressing (XEX 606-1 side 2 matrix). It was said that John was not happy with this mix from the original masters, and in particular the mix for 'Tomorrow Never Knows', when he got his copy of the LP and asked for it to be changed. Subsequent copies of the LP therefore are ‘Remix 8’ with 606-2 or 3 matrix. These copies have a different mix for 'Tomorrow Never' Knows that sounds different to the Remix 11 version. And, of course, this pressing also has the mis-spelling of Dr. Robert on label and sleeve. Later copies have Doctor Robert on the label. As if this wasn’t rare enough being a Remix 11 pressing, with the very, very low 'Mother' and 'Stamper', this LP is fantastically rare. With a 1/G Mother/Stamper, side one would have been among the first 300 pressed, and side two among the first 600. Therefore, this LP was amongst the first 600 copies pressed (although some sources believe that EMI did not actually change the stampers after 300 pressings and instead waited until the stamper wore out), and was most likely amongst the first 300 onto the presses. Certainly, 1G/1G pressings are considered the ultimate. As a 1G/1R pressing this is very next to the ultimate. Having researched this, I have yet to see a 1G/1G copy of Revolver and it was probably the case that these were the ‘Factory Sample’ pressings of the LP, which probably went to the band, label execs etc. The condition of the LP is not as great as one would want, but it does play through without skipping or sticking. I have now checked it several times on a Project Debut III TT with an Ortofon cartridge and it has played through with no problems every time. The only down side is that there is a near-constant background hiss or crackle. Nevertheless, this is a hugely rare opportunity to put your hands on one of the rarest LPs you will ever see. For further information about Mothers and Stampers on Beatles records, go to ‘thebeatles-collection.com’ and look for the British pressing of Revolver. Comes in front laminated E.J. Day cover, with an ‘Emitex’ poly-lined inner sleeve. On the yellow/black Parlophone label, Catalogue No. PMC 1230 Produced 1964 Mono Track Listing: Side One 1. Taxman 2. Eleanor Rigby 3. I'm Only Sleeping 4. Love You To 5. Here, There and Everywhere 6. Yellow Submarine 7. She Said, She Said Side Two 1. Good Day Sunshine 2. And Your Birc Can Sing 3. For No One 4. Dr. Robert 5. I Want To Tell You 6. Got To Get You Into My Life 7. Tomorrow Never Knows. Record is in Fair + condition with plenty of mild surface scratches and one or two heavier ones (see comments above). Cover has some light creasing on all edges and has just slight general wear on all edges. On the back it is slightly grubby along the flipbacks with some very slight discolouration on the back where it is not laminated. Inner just has some minor ringwear/creasing and discolouration. Labels have wear around the spindle holes and quite a lot of spindle marks. Overall PLAY grading: Fair + / Good + We are selling this record in "as donated condition" and advise the prospective purchaser to have the record professionally cleaned to bring it to its best condition. We grade our records according to the Rare Record Price Guide (record/sleeve).R
