1979 Cup Winners - Alan Sunderland decides ''the five minute Final'' as Arsenal beat Man Utd 3-2 It is widely regarded as one of the greatest-ever finishes in an FA Cup final. For over 85 minutes the game had been unremarkable, with Arsenal taking a 2–0 half time lead through goals from Brian Talbot and Frank Stapleton. In the 86th minute, however, Gordon Mc Queen scored following a set-piece, and two minutes later Sammy Mc Ilroy dribbled past two Arsenal players to score a dramatic equaliser. With the game poised for extra time, United's celebrations proved short-lived, as Alan Sunderland scored a last-minute winner.

Barnstoneworth United (Ripping Yarns). Retro Football Shirts

    £36.99

This (Ripping) yarn tells the tale of the final days of Barnstoneworth United of the Yorkshire Premier League in 1935. Gordon Ottershaw (Michael Palin) spends his whole life surrounded by everything Barnstoneworth, and after every weekly heavy defeat, he comes home and smashes up the front room in disgust. Team names get reeled out many times, and nos. 9, 10 & 11 are usually Mac Intyre, Treadmore and Davitt. Davitt seems to have scored twice in virtually every match, with bullet headers ("he once scored with the back of 'is 'ead, from 28 yards"). At an emergency meeting the chairmen decide to sell the club to a scrap dealer, and so the following Saturday's cup match is to be B Utd's last. As the team only has about 4 players (and three pairs of shorts) left, Gordon goes off and rounds up the star team from the early 20's, to play the final match. Davitt is the star man, and scores the winner with a header. Gordon runs off home, announces the victory, and the whole family smash up the front room.

Bradford Association Football Club was formed in 1907 and used the name of its ground, Park Avenue, to distinguish itself from Bradford City AFC and Bradford Northern RLFC. The ground was established in 1880 as the home of Bradford Rugby Club, achieving their first major success by winning the Yorkshire Cup in 1884. Joining the Northern Union following the "Great Split" of 1893, the Park Avenue club enjoyed great success as a Rugby League club, defeating Salford in 1906 to win the Northern Union Cup. In spite of this success at the "handling game" there was also a demand for Association Football, and Park Avenue played host to both sports.

Manchester United V Brighton -Amp; Hove Albion 1983 Fa Cup Final Dvd. Retro Football...

    £9.99

Manchester United v Brighton & Hove Albion 1983 FA Cup Final Whilst the scoreline of the replay suggests otherwise, the 1983 FA Cup Final came so close to turning the form books upside down and producing the shock of the season, as Gary Bailey denied Gordon Smith and Brighton & Hove Albion from following in the footsteps of Southampton in 1976, and forcing the replay that United would comfortably win. After Brighton had taken the lead in the first half, United hit back with two second half goals from Frank Stapleton and Ray Wilkins, and were seemingly heading towards their fifth FA Cup Final triumph, but a late equaliser from Gary Stevens with only three minutes remaining, brought the tie level, and in the end United had to be content with a replay as Gordon Smith missed a glorious chance to shower his team with FA Cup glory, and five days later they would be back at Wembley fighting it out once again. But this time around the difference in league standings was clear to see, as United produced a performance that was indicative of their unbeaten home record in the league, and clinched the Cup by the biggest margin since Bury defeated Derby 6-0 in 1903. Two goals in five minutes mid-way through the first half by Bryan Robson and then by the youngest Cup Final scorer, Norman Whiteside, just 18 at the time, set United on course, and Robson’s second before half time put them beyond reach. Arnold Muhren completed the scoring from the penalty spot on 63 minutes, and the trophy was heading back to Old Trafford. Norman Whiteside became the youngest player to score in a Wembley final, and United had won the cup for the fifth time on Sir Matt Busby’s 74th birthday. With the full uninterrupted 90 minutes of the replay along with goals from the first match, there’s nothing quite like an emphatic United victory in the World’s most famous cup competition.

Bristol City 1973 - 1974 home shirt. On Tuesday, February 19th, 1974, Second Division Bristol City shocked the football world, wearing this classic design, when they beat Don Revie's all-conquering, topflight Leeds United side 1-0, at Elland Road, in an F.A. Cup 5th Round replay, thanks to Donnie Gillies' 73rd minute clipped shot. To appreciate the magnitude of City's triumph you have to consider the following information: The Robins won despite performing in front of a fiercely partisan crowd of 47,182. Leeds all-star team was packed with international players and going into the FA Cup tie were undefeated in 29 First Division matches. They eventually won the League Championship by 5 points. Pictured is David Rodgers who gave 13 years of loyal service to the City and was a member of the Ashton Gate 8 who saved the club when they ripped up thier contracts in 1982.

Cardiff City 1927 Cup Final. Retro Football Shirts

Cardiff City 1927 Cup Final. Arsenal, under the magic touch of Herbert Chapman, were captained by the famous Charles Buchan and had other star players in Hulme, Parker and John. Cardiff City, with practically the same defence as that of the 1925 Final but now with a new forward line, were at the peak of their powers. For Arsenal, however, only Buchan lived up to his reputation, setting up at least three clear chances for his colleagues. The Welsh supporters massed on the Wembley banks had little to sing about, with both defences well in command and play for the most part incoherent. Then, out of the blue, the decisive goal came in the seventy third minute. Following a Cardiff throw-in, Ferguson tried a hurried shot at goal before he could be tackled. His drive was a hard one, low and diagonal, but Lewis, Arsenal's Welsh international goalkeeper, appeared to have it covered. However, with Davies and Irving challenging, the ball somehow twisted on Lewis' chest and trickled sowly over the line. It was a classic example of the kind of luck that can win or lose a Final. Fred Keenor and his men went on to take the Cup, and the trophy went out of England for the first time.

Manchester City v Leicester City 1969 FA Cup Final Having won the league championship the previous season, City returned to Wembley eager to add the FA Cup to their impressive list of honours in the late 1960’s. It was a golden era for the Club, as Mercer and Allison watched on from the sidelines, and Summerbee, Bell, Lee and co turned on the style on the pitch. In the weeks leading up to the final, City announced they would be wearing their new change strip of red and black, rather than the traditional sky blue. It was Allison’s suggestion, believing that it would give City the kind of invincibility enjoyed by AC Milan. In a bizarre scenario Allison was forced to watch the match from the stands, because of the touchline ban he was serving, but instead of opting for an elevated position, the camera’s picked out the City assistant sitting with the fans on the front row, which ironically brought him closer to the pitch than the bench. In a fast and open game, there were chances at both ends, but a solitary goal would decide this final, which swung in City’s favour. It came in the 24th minute, as Summerbee’s low cross was met by a thunderous shot by Neil Young, and City had a lead they would not relinquish. An estimated 250,000 people lined the streets of Manchester for the victory parade the following afternoon, and Mercer addressed his beloved fans as the first man to win the FA Cup and League Championship as both player and manager. So now relive this historic day for the Club, as City claim their 4th FA Cup crown, and we bring you the full uninterrupted 90 minutes in colour, plus a special bonus feature of the goals from 1956 when City last returned from Wembley triumphant.
