    Claude Berri
    The Hut Product Information
Jean De Florette: French director Claude Berri’s stunning adaptation of the acclaimed Marcel Pagnol novel is the winner of numerous international awards and is the world's most popular foreign language film ever. City-dweller Jean de Florette (Gérard Depardieu) moves his family to the Provence countryside in the 1920s to forge a new life as a farmer. But his proud cocky neighbouring rival Le Papet (Yves Montand) schemes with his simple-minded nephew Ugolin (Daniel Auteuil) to acquire some nearby land ensuring the novice owner never discovers an all-important natural spring on the property. A wholly captivating emotionally powerful and beautifully photographed classic epic of innocence evil greed envy and revenge. Manon Des Sources: The equally extraordinary highly successful and award-winning sequel to Jean de Florette takes up the story of the late Jean de Florette’s daughter Manon (Emmanuelle Béart) now grown up into a beautiful and free-spirited young shepherdess on her father’s Provence farm. But when she finally learns the tragic truth behind her father’s death Manon plots her revenge on the dim-witted Ugolin (Daniel Auteuil) and the scheming Le Papet (Yves Montand). A visual feast containing masterly performances leading to a heart-stopping and totally unexpected conclusion Manon des Sources together with its precursor Jean de Florette is universally acclaimed as the best French films of the past three decades. Germinal: This lavish adaptation of Emile Zola’s epic novel about striking coal miners stars Gérard Depardieu as Maheu a simple miner who struggles to make a life for his wife (Miou-Miou) and seven children whilst working in the mines of Le Voreux. When Etienne Lantier (played by French singer Renaud II) a Belgian outsider comes to town looking for work he is befriended by Maheu and employed alongside the hard-working family and soon begins to speak out about social change and the appalling conditions of the coal mines. The contrast between the wealthy villas and lavish meals of the French aristocracy and the hellish atmosphere of the mines where the workers earn just enough money to keep from starving is starkly illustrated in this painstaking and moving evocation of a true classic of French literature. Lucie Aubrac: Based on the dramatic true story and novel Outwitting the Gestapo Lucie Aubrac is the nail-biting tale of undying love between a couple who are active members of the French Resistance. Raymond Samuel (Auteuil) is arrested at a Resistance meeting during a raid on a doctor’s surgery after a tip-off from an inside informant (Aubrac is their underground pseudonym). Lucie (Bouquet) manages to visit Raymond in prison and attempts to rescue Raymond and his fellow prisoners before they are to be executed. Her absolute devotion to her husband leads to a dramatic conclusion risking life and limb in her attempt to free him from the hands of the Gestapo in one of the most remarkable love stories ever told.

    TheDrinkShop Product Information
A Champagne House is eventually judged on the quality of its Brut Non Vintage. It is in the making of such a wine that the true Art of Champagne blending reveals itself. This is an art in which the House of Veuve Clicquot excels. Our Brut Yellow Label reflects the superb vineyards we own and the consistent nature of our House style. The predominance of Pinot Noir provides the structure that is so typically Clicquot, while a touch of Pinot Meunier rounds out the blend. Chardonnay adds the elegance and finesse essential in a perfectly balanced wine. Grapes from as many as 50 to 60 different Crus go to the blending of Yellow Label. Traditionally, the proportion of each grape variety used is : 50 to 55% Pinot Noir - 15 to 20% Pinot Meunier - 28 to 33% Chardonnay. These figures vary slightly from year to year according to conditions. The Chef de Caves has to achieve the total consistency of taste, which makes Yellow Label so immediately recognisable, so utterly reliable both in terms of quality, colour and bouquet. He will draw on priceless Reserve wines for the blend: from 25 to 35%, sometimes as much as 40% to ensure the continuity of the House style. Each of these older wines - perhaps 9 years old - is kept separately to preserve the unique qualities of the vineyard and the vintage. First, Yellow Label looks beautiful: golden-yellow, with a foaming necklace of tiny bubbles. Next it is so pleasing to the nose: initially reminiscent of white fruits and raisins, then of vanilla and later of brioche. Note the fine balance between the fruity aromas coming from the grape varieties and the toasty aromas following the ageing in the bottle. The first sip delivers all the freshness and forcefulness so typical of Yellow Label with a symphony of fruit tastes following on. Here is a true member of the powerful Brut family, well structured, admirably vinous. The lingering aromas echo and re-echo, with each fruit or spice note distinct. Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label manages to reconcile two opposing factors - forcefulness and finesse - and to hold them in perfect balance. This consistent power to please makes it ideal as an aperitif, and perfect as the Champagne to enjoy with a meal.

Potocki - Polish Rye 70cl Bottle
    TheDrinkShop Product Information
Potocki Wodka (pronounced Po-toh-tski vood-ka) is a 100% rye Polish vodka crafted in small batches according to the noble Potocki family's 200-year old tradition. This artisanal product is created from freshly harvested rye - double distilled and unfiltered for a distinctive sweet and nutty flavour. Take a look at the bottle. It is inspired by the Potocki family tradition. Its angular flask shape resembles 19th century hand- blown models from their distillery at the Lancut Estate in Poland; it carries their name and coat of arms. Yet the bottle manages to retain a modern, classic look. This is exactly what Potocki Wodka is: timeless. Potocki Wodka is best enjoyed pure and ice cold, accompanying a meal. Smoked fish and caviar are traditional companions, but Potocki also marries well with smoked or cured meats and with sweets such as chocolate, lemon, or mocha desserts. Alternatively, by shaking with ice, adding perhaps some dry vermouth and a garnish, the perfect dry martini is born. Try Potocki Wodka before a meal with hors d'oeuvres, during dinner with rich foods, or after coffee with a fine cigar. Keep your bottle in the freezer, the refrigerator, or on ice like a bottle of champagne. But regardless of how you choose to store it, make sure you serve it chilled not frozen, so as to allow the vodka's flavour to emerge. The faint bouquet of vodka is noticeable on the nose, but most of the action takes place on your palate. Good vodka can be flavourful enough to take it over and keep you entertained for a good half a minute, Potocki does that. At first it is soft and slightly sweet on the tongue. Its rich texture envelops the mouth, gradually arousing the taste buds, and you can soon see yourself ordering dinner and asking for a refill. While you are still toying in your mind with various menu options, the flavour moves to the back, turning into a long dry finish with nutty notes which are the trademark taste of Polish rye vodka. This pleasant experience is concluded by a warm feeling in your chest (and your heart). American critic Paul Pacult writes of 'a multilayered bouquet that begs for a half hour of sniffing and evaluation', and Robert Plotkin calls it 'a remarkable achievement, one worthy of top shelf treatment.' British Class Magazine notes that its 'creamy, nutty, rye notes combine with a hint of spice to deliver an incredibly long finish'.
